Living With the Giants

The title may not be what it seems (or then again maybe it does).  Part of our family lives in San Francisco and we have three grandboys that are big SF Giant fans.  They know the roster, can tell you various starting lingups and know the starting rotations ERA.  Oh, they are 7, 5 and 3.  The three year old does not sleep with his glove, but it goes on as soon as he gets up.  Complete with imagination, he can play by himself, play every position and according to him he is undefeated.

Their mother (our oldest daughter) and the boys spent the month of June with us.  It was exciting around our house.  They plan on coming back next year, although not for an entire month.  I don't think their dad coped very well.

I remember as a child, my "Granddaddy" playing catch with me.  It was a daily occurence in the summer.  Everything I know about baseball I learned from him.  So when my oldest grandson said, "Pops, will you throw the baseball with me?"  I was all too ready.  Opportunites like that don't come too often.

They have hopes of playoff baseball (we do too in Braves country).  They live a block from the stadium which fuels a lot of their enthusiam.  They are back in SF now and we won't see them again until November.  When I get on that plane I will have my Bible and my baseball glove.
